On April 24th this year, we welcomed a new family member when Maker House founder Gareth and his wife Sarah had their first baby! Here's the story behind how baby Ethan's nursery came together, and some pictures of their cute little boy.
Small house blackboard: Gautier Studio (Montreal)
We wanted a space that was clean, bright, and somewhat “un-babylike”. The goal was to create a room that will grow with our boy, and that we'll enjoy spending time in as well.
We tried to stay away from a distinct theme for the room to avoid overloading the space with too much of a good thing. Whales are our relationship spirit animal, so it was hard not to focus on that, especially since they’re so popular right now!
Instead, we built it around elements of wood and greenery. It was easy to draw inspiration from the many makers and handmade items that we come across on a daily basis, especially given that much of our house is already adorned with locally made goods.
