11/02/2015

Our doors have been open for two weeks, so it's time to properly celebrate this new home!

Join us this Saturday, November 14th for our Grand Opening Party at 987 Wellington St W! We're settled into cozy Hintonburg, with our shop resting just past Suzy Q Donuts and the LCBO.

Check out products from over 50 local makers in store, and in the afternoon try tasty samples from our neighbours:

  • Tooth and Nail Brewery (2-4pm)
  • Meat Press Sandwich Shop (1pm)
  • Bridgehead Coffee (1pm)
  • Split Tree Cocktail Co. (2-4pm)

Also this Saturday, take a picture of your favourite product in store, post it to Instagram, and tag us @MakerHouseCofor a chance to win a Reclaimed Wood Block Table Lamp with an Edison light bulb!

Workshop Alert: Getting Started with Chalk Paint

We are excited to announce this first to our subscribers... Our first in-store workshop will be hosted on Sunday November 22nd by Katrina Barclay of Malenka Originals. Katrina is Ottawa's resident expert in refinishing old furniture with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint! The fun takes place Sunday, November 22 at our shop, with 3 one-hour sessions available: 1:00 pm, 2:00 pm, 3:00 pm.

Learn how to do a two-colour distressed finish, and a two-colour wash on sample boards. Then, learn how to wax them with Annie Sloan's clear and dark Soft Wax. All supplies are provided for $25 per person. Workshops are limited to 10 people per session, and spots are first come, first served!
