The elusive House Hippo has been one of the most desired creatures for Canadian kids since the early 1990's and now you can finally own one!
House Hippos are notoriously shy and nocturnal and are good at taking care of themselves. They love to munch on potato chips (because who doesn't?) and forage for crumbs and bits of dropped food. Keeping cozy is a top priority so they tend to build themselves little nests made up of lint, fuzzy scraps and odd socks. In the wild hippos are notoriously aggressive but House Hippos are docile around humans. When placed on a bedside table they make excellent defenders against anything that makes strange sounds at night.
Each kit envelope contains step-by-step photo illustrated instructions, paper pattern pieces, sheet of warm grey felt*, pair of 6mm safety eyes, embroidery floss, needle and pins. I describe it as Beginner+ and recommend it for ages 12 and up.
Stuffing is not included as the finished piece is easy to stuff using scraps of felt or fabric cut into small bits, cotton balls as well as traditional stuffing. It also helps keep the shipping cost much lower as it can travel Canada Post letter mail.
* The felt provided is 100% rayon/viscose which is an organic material made from processed wood pulp and tinted with vegetable-based dyes and has a characteristically soft feel. These pieces are perfect either as whimsical decorative pieces or to be used in gentle play.

Let's be honest, no one loves to wear a mask! At Maker House we worked hard to offer you a simple and beautiful mask that is easily adjustable, and made in Canada.
The masks are handmade in Creationz clean studio. They are sewn with two layers of breathable cotton fabric with 3 pleats that extend over your face. They have a nose wire to shape around your nose. They are reusable and washable and also have an opening for a filter. The filter is not included however you can add something has simple has a coffee filter for extra protection. There are two elastics to wrap around your ears.
The masks are not a medical grade, however they offer an extra layer of protection when working or doing your daily activities. They also act has a barrier to protect others when you cough or sneeze and prevent you from touching your face.

All you have to do is wrap it around food or the top of your container - stay away from meat though! After each use, wash it with cold water and use natural soap if needed and air dry. When you're not using it (you'll want to use it daily) store it folded loosely. They last up to 150 uses with proper care, so they're a great replacement for things like aluminium foil and plastic wrap.
