#CraftChange Partners: SchoolBOX

SchoolBOX is a registered Nicaraguan and Canadian Charity with the simple, ambitious mission of ‘Making Education Possible’ for all children in Nicaragua and the world.  Based out of Almonte, ON, their vision is to see all children in school and finishing primary education, in a world where currently 57 million children are out of school.  They believe that education can defeat poverty; that together we can make a difference.  And that's something we can get behind.

An organization that empowers educators and students, who in turn empower their communities - what's not to love!

SchoolBOX offers four programs to empower children to go to school, and we are thrilled to support their Indigenous Youth Empowering Students (IYES) program.  This enables local Indigenous youth to travel to Nicaragua on a school build project where they are able to participate in a culture exchange and build a school in an impoverished community.  Their goal is that participants return to their home communities with the motivation and skills to be leaders of change.

We are proud to announce that the IYES program with SchoolBOX will be our #CraftChange Partner for the beginning of 2018. During the months of January, February, and March, Maker House Co. will donate 2% of all sales to SchoolBOX in order to help support our Indigenous Youth become community leaders.
