January: Let's make big things happen!

Hey Canada! 2017 is finally hear and we could not be more pumped!

On Sunday, January 22nd, join us in welcoming one of Ottawa's most talented hand-letterers, Simply Steph Ko, as she teaches us the tricks of the trade for a one-day workshop.

Designed for beginners, this workshop you will give you the skills and confidence to be able to work on your own projects, even if you've never lifted a pen before. We'll be hosting one special session with 10 spots available from 2:30-4:30 p.m. on Sunday the 22nd. The cost is $49 with supplies included. 

Ready to party? Well we are! Come be Glorious and Free at our next in-store party on the 28th! Kick off 2017 by shopping GLORIOUS handmade goods from over 120 Canadians artisans, enjoying FREE local beer samples from our friends at Cassel Brewery, and getting a FREE Maker House Co. Also, since we just had the season of giving, we also like to announce our biggest donation yet as a social enterprise. This past month we donated $5,128 to the Parkdale Food Centre as part of our #CraftChange movement, which sees 2% of sales be donated to a local nonprofit.

We also collected over $300 in extra customer donations and three big bins of non-perishable goods at our store. Thank you so much to all our customers who purchased local gifts at Maker House Co. this year and made a collective difference for our local food bank! 

Looking forward, we'd also like to warmly welcome a new #CraftChange partner: highJinx. This January to March, 2% of our sales will go to this amazing impromptu community centre that helps their neighbours with everything from free food to operating a furniture bank. If haven't heard of highJinx yet, please give them a look!
