September: See you in the Market!

September 10, 2017
09/10/2017

It’s official! We have opened the doors at our second shop - located right at the main Byward Market entrance at William and George Street (click here for directions), right across from the original BeaverTails! We are lucky to work with both BeaverTails and the City of Ottawa to be the tenant of this amazing new Gateway Stand to handmade local products. The new Maker House Market will have a curated collection of 50+ Canadian makers, with 30+ from around Ottawa.

You are invited to our next weekly "Meet the Maker" live demo in the new location, this Thursday, September 7th from 4-6pm when Adrian and Britta join us from Low Poly Crafts to showcase their 3D Paper Sculpture techniques! Follow @makerhouseco on Instagram for weekly Meet The Maker updates.

This month we would like to encourage you all to “Make your own dam(n) Beaver”. Yes, you heard that right. Artist, Jessica Bromley Bartram, will teach us how to embroider basic stitches on to the industrious Canadian icon, the beaver. The finished product can then be used as an ornament, children’s toy or cute showpiece for the home. Join us Thursday, September 21st at 6pm for some stitchery fun!

Spots are limited so register here :-)

Our End of Summer Sale has now launched! We have our 40 items on sale up to 25% off. It’s the perfect time to get the deals on your wish list. Items to look for: North Standard apparel, marbled planters, cottage blankets, and much more! Quantities are limited and only apply to in-stock items – so we hope to see you soon!

Any plans for the long weekend? Start your Thanksgiving weekend right, with free craft beer and food samples from Big Rig Kitchen and Brewery at Maker House! We'll celebrate our big #CraftChange donation to Somerset West Community Health Centre, and welcome our new #CraftChange partner for the last three months of 2017! There will be a special deal announced soon, so RSVP and stay tuned for more info. You can have a beer, do some good, and save on that beautiful wool blanket you wanted for this fall.

Additionally, be sure to check out our freshest Maker at the shop. We interviewed Tanya Droege from SeaLuxe Co., at her inspiring Pacific ocean home. Read how her business became a success in less than two years! SeaLuxe specializes in all natural ocean-inspired bath and body products. Read our latest journal entry, hear the tips she wished she had known from the start and where she sees SeaLuxe Co. growing.
