In 2020, Will started The Artery Community Roasters with the goal of creating rewarding jobs for people living with disabilities, and roast delicious, direct trade coffee.
All employees at The Artery are living with disabilities, with wages starting at $19.60 an hour, increasing steadily. In most provinces, people with disabilities earn between 70 and 75 percent of the income earned by people without disabilities. Many also face significant barriers to finding meaningful employment at all. The Artery Community Roastery works to play a part in changing this.
Plus their coffee is delicious. Freshly roasted on innovative fluid bed roasters, they sell direct trade coffee that we source through their friends at Semilla Coffee, who are coffee advocates and small-scale importers who care. Allowing them to build genuine relationships with the same farmers year after year.

This coffee comes to us from the amazing people at Baho Coffee, who operate the Fuji Washing Station in Rwanda's Southern province with care and ethics in mind. They believe in paying their workers fair wages and a pension, and supporting many all women farms for single and widowed women.
