Hi there and welcome to Maker House! If you've ever visited the shop in person, you're familiar with this greeting. Thanks for visiting our website, and we're proud to introduce you here to the Maker House Team!
None of this would have been possible without Gareth. In 2015 he took a leap of faith to see if people would be interested in buying locally made, quality goods from fellow Canadians. Much to no-one's surprise, the idea took off. Since then he's been working hard to build Maker House into what it is today.
Gareth's favourite product is the Triceratops Hoodie by Fletch Robbins.
If you've ever wanted to meet a positive force it would be Jenn, brightening every day with her music and laughter. She's been around almost as long as Dana, from the days of the pop up in the ByWard Market all the way to her current capacity as Head of Group Gifts, where she offers a personalized gifting experience. She takes the time to make sure that your gifts are exactly what you're looking for!
When Jenn's not working hard, the Thumbler Wine Goblet by Clay Pidgeon is the perfect tool to help unwind.
While Jess is a newer addition to the team, we can't remember a time before her. A positive and hardworking force that has brought a wonderful light to the shop floor, she's already been helping to find our old inefficiencies and ridiculous ways of doing things and make it work just a little bit better.
All of Shy Wolf's candles hold a special place in Jess' heart, but I made her choose: Gold Dust Woman wins this round.
Paula is our Indomitable Rex. Working hard behind the scenes, she crunches the numbers and spends hours ordering all of your favourite products, bringing in new items and discovering new Makers! She's also our resident horticulturalist, identifying and tending to the little plant babies.
Speaking of plants, Paula loves Iva's Cucumber Relish (isn't all relish cucumber?) by Spade & Spoon.

Our resident podcast engineer, Jack brings a unique view to the shop and asks questions we wouldn't have thought of. We're lucky to have him on our side, and is always willing to jump in front of a camera, listen to your ideas and concerns, or to just have a fun conversation about almost anything, we wouldn't trade him for the world!
Look. Fraktals' Belgian Milk Chocolate Cashew Butter Crunch are just amazing, and I'm shocked it took this long for them to appear on the list of staff favourites. Try them, you won't regret it.
Jack is a weird guy. We love him, but he's got some eccentricities. Thankfully he's always willing to jump in front of a camera, listen to your ideas and concerns, or to just have a fun conversation about almost anything, we wouldn't trade him for the world!

Silly little videos, romcoms, reality TV and books are all things Emily loves, and she's figured out how to turn these passions into a profession. As our Community Manager, she works hard to drive our Social Media channels to new heights. I mean have you seen our TikTok? Canadian made never looked so good. (Also you should follow us on Instagram, YouTube, and Facebook!) -- in 2024 Emily expanded her role to oversee our #CraftChange donations!
Emily's current favourite is actually an Old Soul Combo, Aromatherapy Linen Spray and Sleep Well Balm!
If it's digital Reed probably broke it and had to fix it at some point. Aside from breaking things, he manages IT issues, newsletters, a little graphic design and website updates. He's also the one that wrote this, and there's nothing weirder than referring to yourself in the third person.
While Java might mean a coding language to some who work in IT, it means nothing more than my required morning dose, and Mary's Finest Coffee Beans hits that spot just right, with the benefit of being made by the social enterprise The Artery.

In addition to the great leaders we have above, we've got an amazing family of Keyholders and Shop Guides, and we can't thank them enough for their hard work. We really couldn't have done it without them, and we consider ourselves lucky to have such cool friends.
We're always expanding our team! If you want to join, send an email to gareth@makerhouse.com with your resume attached!
