Acting as the de facto voice for Mother Nature in Ottawa, Ecology Ottawa fights on behalf on the environment and provides residents with the information and tools they need to understand local environmental issues.

Through its many years of service, Ecology Ottawa has succeeded in promoting clean air and water in the city, reducing waste, encouraging recycling, promoting public transit, creating green space, and fostering sustainable communities.

Long story short, Ecology Ottawa fights hard everyday to make Ottawa the green capital of Canada, which is why we are so proud to have them as a #CraftChange partner again in 2019.

During three months in 2016, Maker House donated two per cent of all sales to Ecology Ottawa's Tree Ottawa campaign. This movement fights to protect, plant, and promote trees in the City of Ottawa.

(Did you know that the Emerald Ash Borer might kill a quarter of the trees in Ottawa in the next few years, while old and significant trees are falling to developers? Click here to learn more)

Along with our donation, we also hosted a party called "Tree Yourself,” where we gave away free saplings as a way to encourage all of us to slightly limit our carbon footprint on our city.

It was during this party that we also launched out "Trees of Ontario" print, which continues to be available at the shop and is perfect gift for that nature lover in all of us.

Keep be-leafing, Ottawa!
