Happy Holidays, Ottawa! We are stoked to announce our first ever Canadiana Christimas!
Since we had such a great time sampling craft beer and cocktails at our Grand Opening party, we thought, “Why not do it again for our Christmas party?”
Drop in between 5 to 9pm on Friday December 11th at our shop on 987 Wellington St. West for a heritage-themed shopping and social night at Maker House Co. There’ll be historic artifacts and photographs on display, local crafted products from more than 60 makers for sale, live music from Big Train (blues-folk acoustic), and drink samples being served from Dominion City Brewing Co. and Split Tree Cocktail Co.
We’re also pumped to announce our second in-store workshop. Hosted by Irene of My Urban Workshop, this woodcut printmaking shop on Sunday December 13th will give participants a chance to make both a wood block stamp and a rubber stamp all by hand. We’ll be hosting two 1.5 hours sessions, with each workshop costing $36.30 each (all supplies will be provided).Workshops are limited to 6 people per session, and spots are first come, first served, so sign up quickly at these links for the 1pm or 2:30pm workshops.
For those looking to get some Christmas shopping done, our shop will be staying open extra late starting Dec. 11th. These extra hours will give you easy access to all the local handmade gifts in Ottawa you are looking for.
The store will close temporarily from Dec. 25th to Jan. 11th, reopening on Jan. 12th. Returns or exchanges will be accepted until Jan. 26th for products that are eligible.
In case you missed it, we were lucky to get some positive press last week and we’re really excited to share it with you all. Here is the great article from the Ottawa Citizenlooking at our shop and our #CraftChange initiative.
Hopefully with the support we've gotten from the community, Maker House Co. will be able stay permanently in our location at 987 Wellington Street West after our pop-up ends in January. Our fingers are crossed!
Finally, please remember that 2 per cent of each purchase is reinvested in our community with our #CraftChange partnership. For this season, our partner is the Ottawa Tool Library! Learn more about them on their website here.
Make sure to follow us on social media for real-time updates on future happenings at @MakerHouseCo, as well as sign up for our next newsletter in January.
Until next time, we want to wish you a wonderful local, handmade, holidays!
