“When she's not in the studio or spending time with family, she loves to scour the mountain countryside looking for bears and other wildlife to photograph, ponder and quietly enjoy”
A graduate of the Alberta College of Art (now known as Alberta University of the Arts) in Calgary, Alberta, Kari Lehr lives and paints in the beautiful Crowsnest Pass, Alberta. After a 20-year career illustrating for various agencies, studios and corporations around North America, Kari began pursuing her own vision out of her home studio in the Pass, working primarily in acrylic, often incorporating mixed media.A lifelong fascination with bears led her to begin exploring bear (and other wildlife) imagery in portrait form, and In 2015 she created a wholesale branch of her art business, selling her “Wild Things” line of reproductions to retailers across Canada and the US. This endeavour turned into a full time job for both Kari and her husband Dave, which has kept them busy for the past ten years.
