"Ottawa Rewind: A Book of Curios And Mysteries" is as much a mystery as a history book. Whimsical and researched, it is the creative work of a restless and curios mind.
Andrew King is an artist, cartoonist and detective. The detective part doesn’t get mentioned often, but Andrew is a history sleuth, someone who loves to solve historical mysteries. Where exactly is the first house built in Ottawa? Was there really a nuclear reactor once at Tunney’s Pasture? And what in the world happened to Ottawa’s once famous tiki bar at the Talisman Inn?
Andrew has been seeking answers to questions like these since launching the popular website Ottawa Rewind in 2013. In Ottawa Rewind Andrew has set out to find the location of shipwrecks in the Ottawa River, the playboy bunnies that once worked the Riverside Hotel in Vanier and every last Free Mason or Knight Templar symbol built into Canada’s Parliament Buildings.

This award winning chocolate bar is Berry Good with a Salty Tang.
A fruit forward taste explosion, fueled by the lovely tang of Canadian Sea Salt crafted by Vancouver Island Salt Co. (one of the few in North America that hand-harvests sea salt). The cool Pacific waters create something extraordinarily unique and delicious. The salt unlocks hidden flavours in the chocolate and sharpens existing notes. You are going to love what it does to this (already) delicious chocolate.
Fleur de Sel is made from single-origin Trinitario cacao, cultivated by growers in the northern Dominican Republic.
Cacao 70% Weight 60g
Ingredients: Organic Cacao, Organic Cane Sugar, Cocoa Butter & Salt.
Allergens - May contain nuts & peanuts.
This product is: Vegetarian, Vegan, Gluten Free, Dairy-Fee, Nut Free and Soy Free. Most of the ingredients are organic, but the products and facility are not certified organic. Products may be listed as dairy and nut free, but the production facility is not dairy-free or nut-free.
Chocolate should be stored in a cool, dry place (between 10˚C and 22˚C). Keep the chocolate away from heat, and direct sunlight. Chocolate can pick up the scents of what’s around it, so we recommend keeping it in an airtight container.

The elusive House Hippo has been one of the most desired creatures for Canadian kids since the early 1990's and now you can finally own one!
House Hippos are notoriously shy and nocturnal and are good at taking care of themselves. They love to munch on potato chips (because who doesn't?) and forage for crumbs and bits of dropped food. Keeping cozy is a top priority so they tend to build themselves little nests made up of lint, fuzzy scraps and odd socks. In the wild hippos are notoriously aggressive but House Hippos are docile around humans. When placed on a bedside table they make excellent defenders against anything that makes strange sounds at night.
Confident Beginner and recommend it for ages 12 and up. Each kit envelope contains step-by-step photo illustrated instructions, paper pattern pieces, colour info care card, sheets of wool blend felt, pair of 7mm safety eyes, embroidery floss, needle and pins.
Stuffing is not included as the finished piece is easy to stuff using scraps of felt or fabric cut into small bits, cotton balls as well as traditional stuffing. It also helps keep the shipping cost much lower as it can travel Canada Post letter mail.
Not recommended for small children.
Finished Size: approx. 5" x 3" (13cm x 8cm)
Made by Rita Van Tassel Studio in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia

Wear a piece of Canadian (and Ottawa) history!
The copper used for the maple leaf is the original copper which covered the roofs of Canada's Parliament Buildings from 1918 to 1996. Wear these copper earrings proudly! Measures approx. 1 cm.
These copper earrings are stainless steel with either gold or pewter plating.
As these are handmade and made from recycled roofing, unique marks will appear on the copper of each pin.
Because this item is handcrafted, slight variations are to be expected and admired.
Why don’t they come in red?
We get this question all the time! The rich patina on these pieces comes from decades of natural oxidation while the copper roof covered Canada’s Parliament Buildings for 78 years. Rather than altering this historic material, Under One Roof preserves its authentic character—keeping the same aged copper that has witnessed some of Canada’s most important moments. That means no artificial colouring, just genuine history in every piece. Enjoy this one-of-a-kind connection to Canada’s past!
