December: Know the Story of Your Gifts

Give the gift of 'keeping it local' this December by shopping at Maker House. We have more than 120 artisans and 800 products ranging from $2 to $2000, so we have you covered. We also have some pretty sweet events and updates for you all too!

On Dec. 9th, we're welcoming Waller St. Brewing for a warm and festive, second annual, 'Canadiana Christmas'! There will be free beer tasting, live music, vintage Ottawa pictures, and cupcakes! See full details and RSVP on our Facebook event to get updates.

Celebrate all the great times we've had at Maker House in 2016. Check out handmade gifts, cards and furniture from over 120 local makers. We're also having a one-day SALE! Bring a non-perishable item for Parkdale Food Centre, and get 10% off all in-store items. Support small businesses, and get a deal just for being a good neighbour.

After you buy all those gifts with a discount, you're going to need something to wrap them up in! Come join our holiday workshop where we will be taught how to screenprint your very own original Ottawa wrapping paper!

You'll take over the store on a Thursday evening, and learn the basic secrets behind silk screening, from your host Stirling Prentice (of Winged Beast Outfitters). Join us on December 15th by registering for the 6pm or 7:30pm start time.

All supplies provided, but limited spots available. Be sure to check out printed t-shirts and postcards from the Winged Beast, always available in store!

For those who want an even more personal gift, visit us on Saturday the 10th from 12-4pm and pick up a custom typewriter-inked bookmark on locally scavenged birch bark.

Makes a very original stocking stuffer, you can put a favourite saying or Christmas-y quote!

This in-store experience is provided by Stephanie Halin from Not Mother. We already carry her witty and inspirational birch bark bookmarks, so come check them out anytime with quotes from Dylan and Cohen, to Bowie and Doctor Suess.
