It's May, Ottawa... time to turn up the awesome!

We added over 20 new makers to the store in April and are excited to welcome many more as spring unfolds. But before you come check out the store to see what new handmade goodness has arrived, you may want to know what’s happening in our Wellington West space this month.

Hintonburg Happening starts this weekend and we are having a party on Friday May 13th to celebrate. Gather around the proverbial campfire in our store and listen to local historian Andrew King share unknown Ottawa ghost stories, with historic artifacts from the Kitchissippi Museum and pictures from Lost Ottawa.

Between stories, enjoy live music, and free samples from Dominion City Brewing Co. and Split Tree Cocktail Co. Check out all the details and RSVP (it's free!) on our Facebook event page

On Sunday, May 15th, we welcome Maker Junior to the store!

Parents and kids (age 5 and up) will get to sew a circuit using conductive thread, 3V batteries, and LEDs. All products are provided.

Kids love making these felt creations as they actually light up when the circuit is closed! Each registration fee of $30 pays for one adult and one child to attend. Both attendees will be able to make a project of their own to take home. Learn more and sign up via this linkto get in.

On Thursday, May 12th, we’re offering another chance to sip some brews and socialize with your friends at our "Beau's Beer Label Art Show & Q&A.” In celebration of Hintonburg Happening, we’ll be hosting this event with our store mates Brew Donkey and we’re beyond excited!

To learn more about art and the careers behind it, join us on May 30th as we'll be hosting a mixer and panel with non-profit Young Arts Leaders.

Hear from four diverse people who have created career opportunities for themselves and others in the arts world. Check it out here.

May is Bike to Work Month in Ottawa and Maker House Co. staff are proudly participating. Our #CraftChange partner Right Bikeis doing free tune-ups at City Hall until May 23rd and we are thrilled to be donating 2% of all sales to Right Bike from April to June.

Now that spring is here we are seeing lots of people shopping by bike too. Keep up the healthy lifestyles and Happy Bike to Work Month, Ottawa!
