February: Craft Night Out at Maker House

February 02, 2017
02/02/2017

Happy February, Ottawa! Hope you're all surviving the snow. This month we're excited to host a new workshop with Fay, the creator of Craft Night Out. Sign up to flashback to grade school, as you indulge your inner maker and make your own fun Valentines cards and gift boxes!

Click here to join us on Wednesday, February 8th.

Craft Night Out supports local crafters, makers, and artists by hosting creative social events across Ottawa. It's gonna be a fun night. Visit her website for more info!

However, if normal Valentine Day cards don't excite you, we may have the solution...3D Valentine Day hearts!

You've seen the 3D paper deer head, fox, and amazing DIY paper sculpture kits from Ottawa's own Low Poly Crafts. Now it's your chance to make one! This Valentines day, give someone your heart by making a desk sculpture of paper.

Choose from two sessions on Sunday, February 12th, either 12 to 2 p.m. or 2:30 to 4:30 p.m., with limited spots available. It's only $25 with heart kit and supplies included, and you'll also get 10% off any Low Poly kits in-store that day. See more details and register here

It's winter...Why not wind down? We know you love Canadian winters and snow-covered Ottawa, but we are getting little antsy here for warmer days to come. Join us as we celebrate the end of February with some live music, end-of-season deals, free hot chocolate, and drink samples from Split Tree Cocktail Co.

Drop in on Saturday, February 25th for the fun and to see what our 120+ local makers have to offer.

In the new, Apt613 recently featured Maker House Co. and the article is awesome. We are a big fan of the culture and connections fostered by this grassroots local publication, so be sure to check out Apt613 if you have not had a chance yet!

And finally, don't forgot to save the date for CRAFTFEST 2017!

You heard it right, folks! Get ready for a 16-day special festival of made-in-Canada goodness. It'll be overlooking the Ottawa River, from Saturday, June 10th to Sunday, June 25th. We are working with Freewheeling Craft Shows to co-produce one of the best downtown activities for Canada 150. Keep following us for full details to come.
